Clean before AI
Hide names, emails and account numbers before you paste text into ChatGPT or Claude.
Everything here runs on your device. The original text and the list of what was replaced never leave this tab, and are gone when you close it.
Put the real details back into the AI’s answer
About Clean before AI
Clean before AI hides personal details in a piece of text before you paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other AI chat. Use it when you want help with a client email, a contract, HR notes or a support ticket, but the names, email addresses and account numbers in it aren’t yours to share.
Paste the text or open a PDF, Word or text file. Email addresses, phone numbers, IBANs, card numbers, IP addresses and long ID numbers are found automatically, and you can switch on dates and web links too. Type the names, companies and addresses to hide, and each one is swapped for a placeholder such as [NAME_1] or [EMAIL_2]. The same person always gets the same placeholder, so the AI can still follow who is who.
When the AI answers, paste its reply into the second box and the real details are put back, ready to send. The cleaning happens on your device, and the list of what was replaced stays in this tab only. Automatic finding can miss things, such as a name you didn’t list, so read the result once before you paste it.
Questions
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The cleaning runs in your browser. Only the cleaned text you copy goes wherever you paste it.
Does it find names on its own?
Not yet. Type the names, companies and places to hide in the box, one per line or separated by commas.
How do I get the real names back into the answer?
Paste the AI’s answer into the second box. Every placeholder, such as [NAME_1], is swapped back for the original.
Does this make sharing data GDPR compliant?
It reduces what you share, which helps, but placeholders are pseudonymisation, not anonymisation. Follow your organisation’s rules for AI tools.
