Nothing uploaded
Redact a PDF without uploading it
Permanently black out names, account numbers and addresses in your browser. The unredacted file never leaves your device.
Redaction exists because a document is sensitive, which makes uploading the unredacted version to an online tool a strange first step. It is also easy to get wrong: a black box drawn in a normal editor leaves the text underneath copyable.
Capy Files redacts on your device. Draw boxes or search for names, emails, phone numbers, IBANs and long numbers, review every box, then save. Redacted pages are rebuilt as images so the hidden text is truly gone.
How it works
- 1
Open Redact PDF and add your file.
- 2
Box areas by hand or search for text and patterns.
- 3
Review and save. The text under each box is removed.
Questions
Is it really not uploaded?
Open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab and run the tool. No request carries your file. You can also turn off Wi-Fi after the page has loaded and it keeps working.
Is the hidden text really removed?
Yes. Pages with a box are rebuilt as images, so the text underneath is not in the saved file.
Does it work on scans?
Yes, but scans have no text layer to search, so draw the boxes yourself.
